    On the other hand, 3 heavily leans towards The Friends Who Never Hang, seeing how Zer0 and Maya don't talk to each other during the time the two are in the story (With only Zer0 mentioning her), and Fantastic Fustercluck focuses more on how Lilith, Mordecai and Brick view Krieg than any of his group barring Maya. On one hand, the end of Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep seems to push this at the end, all gathering together to pay respects to Roland and Bloodwing in a silent moment of unity and the Headhunters DLC have them doing more casual things together such as choosing to go on vacation and celebrate holiday events together. Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: A more glaring example than the other Vault Hunter teams, as this group is an especially diverse lot.Not even when Maya dies and Zer0 stays aboard Sanctuary 3 for the rest of the game does he play a further role, nor do the others get involved in the story. Although Maya and Zer0 appear in 3, their screen time is rather minimal. Even in their own game they never spoke to other characters or commented on current events outside of their own ECHOs and four DLCs. Out of Focus: Since 2, the Vault Hunters have had no significant role to play in the main plotlines of later games.note Whether Gaige, Krieg, Axton and Salvador didn't help because they were unable to or uninterested is never said, so they could have legitimate reasons for not appearing with one another.

    The Friends Who Never Hang: They are largely independent of each other in 3, to the point that even when the race for the vaults spans multiple planets keeps growing, only Zer0 and Maya are available to help.Originally it seemed as if this was the result of the Raiders scattering to rebuilt at the end of Commander Lilith, though Fantastic Fustercluck all but states it happened much more recently then that. The rest don't get a passing mention by those on Sanctuary either despite their reputation and previously tight bond, even after their friend and former leader, Maya, has been killed. The Fellowship Has Ended: As of Borderlands 3, this tight-nit group seems to not be as tight-nit anymore, with many of them away and isolated from one another, most not even joining the conflict with the Calypsos barring Zer0 and Maya.It only grows from there as the story continues and they begin directly opposing Hyperion by themselves. Famed in Story: They're regarded with great fame and respect just for surviving Handsome Jack's ambush by the people of Sanctuary and the Crimson Raiders, since every other person that answered his call for Vault Hunters were killed.
